Just one thing really – if you have time to write letters that long, you need to get yourself a hobby or volunteer to help other people who are worse off than you. if you read all the side effects you will end up getting them.

If you really want to scare yourself, read up on antipsychotics. They are much much worse than antidepressants, and when used long term, generally cause early death.

I find that many people only care about the sexual side effects of SSRI and SSNI antidepressants. That scares them plenty. I also got panic attacks, nightmares and mania from antidepressants, in addition to the aforementioned sexual side effects.

In addition, withdrawal after long term use of antidepressants is an important issue, as is their efficacy. You would be interested to google kirsch antidepressants, and read Robert Whitaker’s Anatomy of an Epidemic.

SSRI and SNRI medications are like, sinister in their withdrawals! I am currently tapering off of Paxil very slowly. The withdrawals are like pure hell. I can’t describe it well enough to give the understanding of how much of a hell it is. It’s the worst experience of my 42 years. It was so not worth it to go on Paxil. I was only on it for 5 months too. I know someone that recently suicided from the withdrawals. This is serious. And I still see young people and teens getting prescribed this and it makes my heart sink, knowing what they’re in for. There are better, safer remedies and techniques for these conditions. I also went through anti-psychotics and it really messes you up. Not fun. Brain zaps, akathisia, nightmares, jerks, twitches, SEVERE anxiety and depression, suicidal thoughts. It’s just not worth it. Some people say “Well I’ll just stay on it for life”, or worse, their doctors tell them that! It’s not possible. You eventually get used to the med and find yourself at the highest dose, having withdrawals anyway at some point. There’s a Paxil and Effexor petition at my website for withdrawals that I’ll post here.

Nice post. Maybe you could separate them into their component types of side effects, so we can see which ones cause nausea, and maybe another list version where you have each drug attached to its side effects all in one place. Sort of like a big wiki! Nice work.
